Welcome to Prague
Praha Hlavni Nadrazi, literally “Prague Main Station”, the equivalent of Glasgow Central in my home town, is perhaps not the best introduction to fabulous city that is Prague. If you’re coming from ground level, it’s a grimy train shed that’s occassionally used by B-grade boy bands for “authentic” ballad videos. If you’re coming from below, you’ve been coming through a hideous Soviet-era Metro station interchange that’s been slightly upgraded to a shopping mall. But if you stop, even for a moment like the tourists in this shot, you can still see a glimpse of the fading remains of architect Josef Fanta’s orginal vision.
