As far as performances artists go, David Sherry has a completely disarming presence, which makes his act all the more subversive. Before you know it, he’s drawing spirals on the floor in brown sauce or flicking a sample of Marcel Duchamp’s Plaster of Paris at you.
However, the most disarming part of his performance at Market Gallery was declaring a seemingly endless list of named people to be "great". A whole A2 page with of them. And then, apparently ending that segment, he calmly turned over his flip book to the next page… for another whole A2 page of greatness.
And the first name he mentioned as great? Mine.
